The Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences (DISA) is characterised by a strong multi-disciplinary approach. The scientific areas it is made up of include several sectors in the field of Industrial Engineering (Energy, Fluid Dynamics, Technical Physics, Mechatronics and Machine Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrotechnical and Materials for Engineering), Construction Engineering (Topography, Construction Science and Technology, Construction Production, Architectural Composition, Drawing, Restoration, Urbanism and Technical and Urban Planning) and Chemical and Physical Sciences.
The Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences consists of 56 professors, as well as a group of collaborators, currently consisting of around 50 PhD students, post-docs and young graduates who benefit from research grants, scholarships and research contracts.
The Department offers three Bachelor’s degree programmes (Mechanical Engineering, Engineering of Building Technologies and Engineering of Technologies for Energy and Environmental Sustainability) and three Master’s degree programmes (Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering and Mechatronics and Smart Technology Engineering). The Department also offers numerous Undergraduate and Master's degree courses at the University.
Research areas active in the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences can be traced back to four main areas: Energy and environment; Technologies for design, protection, recovery and environmental sustainability; Microelectronics and Mechatronics; Physical and Chemical Sciences. Research areas are integrated with each other, and find a natural outlet in the topics of the doctoral of the same name in Engineering and Applied Sciences . The Department stands out for its collaborations, both nationally and internationally, which result in a high participation rate in European, national and regional projects, as well as numerous research contracts.
