The Department promotes various activities aimed at contributing to the social, cultural and economic development of Society, such as:

• publications and educational contributions dedicated to the public outside the university; 
• conferences aimed at the scientific and technical updating of personnel belonging to professional associations;
• organisation of (or participation in) events aimed at the local area; 
• research projects that see local bodies or companies play an active part; 
• collaborations with local institutions and companies in order to improve the professionalisation of students;
• promotion of the activities of innovative spin-off companies;
• patent activity.
